Waking up from a one-hour nap next to a paddy field after a long night of protecting the field felt like a dream come true. It was relieving to have successfully protected the fields while ensuring that no wild animal was harmed in the process. I would use the torchlight every half hour and shine it across the paddy field; this usually deters animals. Lighting fires around the paddy field does the same.

The dawn of the new day felt different somehow. As if humans were meant to experience the natural elements in their rawest form. The delicate balance between agricultural success and wildlife conservation can be achieved through innovative methods that prioritise both crop protection and the well-being of animal populations. Ultimately, fostering an environment where agricultural practices coexist harmoniously with wildlife not only benefits farmers but enriches our connection to the natural world.
