Visited the cultivation fields that belongs to my host, she has a 1 acre plot of land where she is growing Rata Kaju (nuts) (a popular crop in the villages these days in this region), amongst other crops such as cowpea and mung beans. We also visited a quarter acre of paddy land she is cultivating for the 'Yala' season using the irrigation structures attached to Attulawewa.
I was impressed by the amount of land that my host was cultivating mostly by herself with occasional help from her children (who have their own families to care for in the village) or hired labour for activities that are too difficult to manage by herself.
