Day 6 - Rains

Followed by months of extreme heat, today there were several sporadic showers throughout the day. It is unusual weather for this period but it was a welcome change by many of the children and villagers that were complaining about the heat.

As you can see in the image below the watermelon patch was partially flooded due to the intense rain and I watched a woman farmer walk out in the rain with a shovel in hand and created a opening along the ridges separating the watermelon paths to allow water to move through the land and away from the young watermelon vines.

The impact of these rains on all the cultivated crops in this village, are a question mark at this point.
